Hey Massive Kids!

Hold on, I'm coming. I promise I'll post something spectacular in the way of a video of the last stage show I did for CCC, once I can find the footage in my storage unit. That'll happen sometime next week cause I just moved up to PDX with my lady, and we just got a house we'll move into this weekend. Things be slow here, but good.

Greetings! My name is Eli, some of you might vaguely remember some noise concerts happening at the Paul Sweet house a few years ago: that was me. I take children's toys and guitar pedals and short circuit them to make new sounds. I run the recording studio at my college (UC San Diego, http://scw.ucsd.edu/) our station is ksdt. I write some of the most twisted death metal you've ever heard. Me and smurph live in a warehouse/ artspace is san diego and we would love it if some of you wonderful creative people came down and did your thing at our location.

I live downtown in San Diego, I have a mechanical typewriter, some paint and a garden... I ride a bicycle and eat quinoa and kale all day, no nightshades.... I am waiting right now for the man to come back from the United States Postal Service with my OIL PRESS so I can protinue making nice things... Like spritzers and soap...

How does anything die? I don't suppose the massive can die, only world bridge like the mayan's say...

How are you Millz, are you well? Burning Man was disgraceful this year, maybe like any other.. All the energy spent on things that don't last, but what lasts? Rome? Towers of Babel fall... I think I'll keep making sand mandalas and blowing them away as long as I can.

Proplacing words is fun, I don't like the con prefix, proversations proclusions... et cetera...


I know your woman makes jewelry and you print cut and paste amongst your other finer modes of expression.. How is that going? Why doesn't she post her creations on the Massive, either?

Soon this space will be finished, polished and insured, then we can have classes and get togethers, we can make paper worth printing on, and maybe someone will benefit from that.

San Diego is nothing like I would have expected after meeting you, but then again, you make a lot more sense now, not enough-- but a lot more than before...

The world's only immortal animal

The turritopsis nutricula species of jellyfish may be the only animal in the world to have truly discovered the fountain of youth.

Since it is capable of cycling from a mature adult stage to an immature polyp stage and back again, there may be no natural limit to its life span. Scientists say the hydrozoan jellyfish is the only known animal that can repeatedly turn back the hands of time and revert to its polyp state (its first stage of life).

The key lies in a process called transdifferentiation, where one type of cell is transformed into another type of cell. Some animals can undergo limited transdifferentiation and regenerate organs, such as salamanders, which can regrow limbs. Turritopsi nutricula, on the other hand, can regenerate its entire body over and over again. Researchers are studying the jellyfish to discover how it is able to reverse its aging process.

Because they are able to bypass death, the number of individuals is spiking. They're now found in oceans around the globe rather than just in their native Caribbean waters. "We are looking at a worldwide silent invasion," says Dr. Maria Miglietta of the Smithsonian Tropical Marine Institute.

Welcome to the ArtRanch where the accommodations are rustic, the food is healthful & good and the rural environment stimulating with plenty of contemplative and creative time and space. Generally speaking, in addition to an artist or two, the ranch is shared by a few interns working in the garden, the woodlands and otherwise on the ranch where we keep goats, sheep and poultry in addition to the organic gardens. Residents are asked to join in to accomplish communal chores around the Ranch for about three hours each day but otherwise your time is your own to create what and as you wish. We maintain a shared studio that can easily accommodate large works and 3 or 4 working artists. A rudimentary gallery for exhibition of completed work adjoins the studio and we enjoy assisting our residents with placements and shows in commercial galleries. All residents are provided a private travel-trailer for sleeping and storage of personal items and materials, but meals and other facilities are communal. We unable to offer a stipend at this time but we do provide most all of your meals and a comfortably rustic living space. Your commitment, beyond a bit of time assisting with the upkeep of our communal environment is to leave an artistic legacy at the ranch, intended to influence and instruct all of those who follow your footsteps here.

We are likely to favor artists who are working on the edge; outsiders, urbanists, large format mixed media and environmental creators, edgy sculptors especially. We maintain a permanent gallery here of Urban and Graffiti art as well as a large collection of Indigenous Tribal Art and Contemporary Canvasses as well. There is plenty of indigenous serpentine/soapstone and at least one resident has had considerable success in stone carving

Well i thought the experimental rock show went well, and heard some good reviews from other people too, it really was more of a show and less of a party, and it feels good to be able to be an outlet for touring bands. i look forward to throwing another in the summer. but seriously post something, anything, a picture or video you liked or god forbid some music links. i would really appreciate some good music, as i am just sitting around and painting over here in HI. anyways just had to break the silence. it was kind of weirdin' me out.
