more mixes

Found some fresh sources, lotta shit I've never heard before:

subnav.com - let's anyone submit a mix, and they also accept art/design to go with the music. (that's where the image on the left is from) I submitted some stuff and y'all should too! Plus it's a wordpress so you can search the name of an artist and find all the mixes that list that one. All the standard DJ genres, from RnB to DnB and everything between. Dope.

blentwell.com
lots of electronic/hip-hop, as well as other genres. user submitted plus well curated.
(from their site's about page)

"-Blentwell is an ongoing document of the evolution of blended music.
-A daily link log of all of the hot mixes and beats found online.
-Blentwell's Links is based on the online linking system Scuttle which in turn is loosely based on the del.icio.us online linking system. There are two link sections:
1.) Blentwell Links - excellent mix links editorialized by the mysterious Mr. Blentwell.
2.) The People's Link - get in touch with the mix link zeitgeist through the posting power of the People.
"

And finally, Radio Free Brooklyn. Weekly or monthly (depending on how they feel) mix show by two guys in brooklyn. Extremely eclectic, with a different focus every show (fugazi tribute show, breakbeat/deathmetal, lots of REALLY GOOD indie rock, rare groove). Broaden yer horizons.

enjoy dat shit!

Is anybody in jail???

Hey massivers,

Ive missed a call the last few days from a santa cruz number i couldnt recognize. Didnt think much of it till I picked up today - it was a collect call from the santa cruz county jail, but it didnt say who from. Anybody know who this might be? I already tried calling the jail and they were no help. Their website has an inmate locator but you have to know the last name. I already tried Lotz, Agler, Millard, Alderman, Bradley-Jungemann and Rusk (Jack, who made the news for getting arrested at farmers market last week for hopping a fence or some shit, resisten, and then the hippy drum circle turned into a hippy riot on Cedar street). So I dunno who this could be, and Im afraid a friend of mine has been rotting in jail for 3 days. If anyone has any info, it would be much appreciated.

PEACE

wild in the streets

I'm getting up every morning and going to school on time/early every day. business and polysci are challenging, but not nearly as much as the video editing class was in my opinion...

I'd like to know about some software I can get for free to make electronic music with, midi or osc, mac or linux...

I think it's important to do big stuff before you die, and just in case its good to do little things before you sleep, with that in mind I uploaded wild in the streets to veoh, I invite you to watch it.

HOLY FUCKING SHIT DUDE BUILDS LASER CUTTER FOR $50

and he made an instructable, what a peach.
http://www.instructables.com/id/SRH0UMKFAQDX721/

also, there's numerous open source 3-d printer/rapid replicator projects out there if you google it. basically as the greatest depression/the crippling of babylon approaches (but not the internet! w00tz!), we'll have to stop relying on large corporations to manufacture our technology. so it's a good thing that peeps is on it.

+Simply Green+

what up folks?!
sooooo....jade finally went home. ugh.
not sure if you all brainwashed me but i got back and weeped for lack of grass and abundance of smog and my bike being sold by my schmuck roommates while i was gone. this city makes me sad.

ill be back soon enough though!
i wanted to share this with everyone first.

"I've always loved Simple Green. It cleans grease perfectly, and it's a nifty shade of green. I use it on laundry, to clean counters- you name it. So I was sad to learn today that Simple Green contains ethylene glycol butyl ether (EGBE), which is on California's list of toxic air contaminants. Apparently EGBE can cause:

Some animal studies indicate that it produces reproductive problems, such as testicular damage, reduced fertility, death of embryos and birth defects. People exposed to high levels of EGBE for several hours have reported nose and eye irritation, headaches, vomiting and a metallic taste in their mouths, studies show.
Oh no! But according to the manufacturers"

you check it out.

mixology

yo yo,

so BM definitely stirred up my head-soup. no conclusions or grand revelations, but i've been suckin down media since getting back and evaluating it based on my revised post-burn aesthetic standards. here's some fresh pressed pink dome-juice for y'all:

a lot of super-fresh mixes have been rockin my face off lately. I'm currently buggin out to this ill mix by Idiosync. Can't find much info on him, but this is eccelecticism at it's best. poly continental funk, CHOICE spoken word samples, an incredibly variety of tones, flavors and (to a lesser extent) BPMs, with just a sprinkling of psyphy. Peep the tracklist:

01) Siri — No Tranco
02) Quantic — En Focus (Pilooski Mix)
03) Dopedemand — Ready Set
04) Blockhead — Duke Of Hazzard
05) Def Tex — Time Lord Ft. DJ Tags of the Fully Grown Men
06) Dunkelbunt — Blistering Heat (feat. MC Killio Killio & King Kanu)
07) Bigga Bush — Michaelangelo
08) Mudd — Mount Pleasant Lane
09) The Rip Off Artist — What Kind Of Blue
10) Beige & Mainpal — Untitled
11) Palov and Mishkin — Dreadfunk
12) Unknown Artist (Les Edits Du Golem) — Pyramide
13) Cibo Matto — Spoon
14) Jon Kennedy — The Goose Is Getting Fat
15) Coldcut — Ride the Pressure
16) Lack of Afro — Mongrel Strut
17) Mr. Scruff — Giant Pickle
18) Flevans — 12 Apostles
19) Ruckus Roboticus — Never Play With Scratches
20) Meat Beat Manifesto — Lucid Dream
21) Anubian Lights — As Seen in 822 A.D.
22) Baby Mammoth — Hair Breaks
23) Salvador Dali — Interview (1963)
24) Ch3vy — Blue Boogaloo (Tombee Remix)
25) Mutamassik - TM2 (Interlude)
26) Ark - XIème
27) Edit - Better
28) Shape of Broad Minds - There 4 Me

Next stop on the mixtrain, iMeem. I feel like I'm a little late to the party on this one, as I've been hearing it's name floating around for a while as an alternative to seeqpod, beemp3 or pandora for when you've JUST GOTTA HEAR THAT ONE SONG RIGTHTHEFUCKNOW. But I ended up there last night, listening to a glitch mix by drumjunkie feat. our favorite mob. Naturally it led me to lots of other good related stuff, but most importantly the site basically just played me the shit I wanted to hear. Didn't try to sucker me into signing up, or put bullshit restrictions on stuff until I did. There's probably a gang of other mixes up there too, haven't explored that much yet.

Memekast tragically hasn't put out anything fresh since June 5th, and now I've listened to just about their entire catalog...alas, it was good while it lasted. Maybe a certain Mad Zamplist in our midst could kick start their reemergence by sending them a certain domesplitting BM08 mix...hint hint. Incidentally,
 >>>>>>>ZACH<<<<<<<<
where's that mix at, yo? yousendit or host it or something, plz. I told chris that his track was on it and he hella wants to cross promote that ish. If you get it to me, there's hella heads over here dyin for that shit. Plus we can probably get it on the Foodchain Collective and the Hip-Hop Database (HHDB), both of which Tyrone from Rosetta Stoned runs.

Ok, back to the choice content...
Who's the Leader of the Club?(Sasquatch HEAVY DUBSTEP remix) - Os Crunc Tesla Fearless Vampirekiller Arc feat. Boxcar, Optimis & M.J.Zilla

Yo, I can't believe I live with these ppl. He's got a new video that's indescribably sick, but I couldn't find it.

Finally, wanted to leave you with one more choice bit: The stones throw podcast doesn't have a lot of installments, but they all have a lot of J Dilla and are all super kine. About 13 minutes into the newest one (Gaslamp Killer vs. Heliocentrics) drops that awesome "Baron Zen!" remix feat the 5 year old emcee.

Paul Sweet Art Show 10-10-08

Mikey and I started talking more in depth about the upcoming Paul Sweet Art Show today. We discussed aiming for the second weekend of October. Some ideas we had were: Love Gutter live performance proceeded by a percussion circle with pots and pans :). Lyrical I supplying the special treats and spoken word. Jeremiah aka N2 throwing down blacklight art (3d layers anyone?). More to come, post ideas... Start brainstorming flyers. GO!

burningman doesnt end silly rabbit

yo mofos i know somebody whats to see jesses ill ass burningman pictures.
It seems so interesting to me that we celebrate war on the 4th of july and spend hundreds of dollars and make a pilgrimage hundreds of miles just to watch a structure fire. and yet so many americans can't fathom why the towers went down on 9/11.

I am not the same.

Thanks to everyone who was still there when I arrived in the desert. And who helped me pick up my pieces by holding themselves down on the playa. Over the course of the week I lost my mind several times and was forced to completely reconstruct myself from lost shards of ego and paranoia. I don't know if I will return to Burning Man, but I do know that I grow from the experience. I am still tripping, and may continue to do so for another week or two. For now, I feel better about eye contact, capes, and count spankula. I hate the new world order and am disappointed by the false promise of costuming. Fuck Reno and its towers of indulgence, I eat for free at the buffet and speak jiberish to the employees. My feet are moist and happy, the sweet air of Paul Sweet reminds me that I want to spend all of my money making dance platforms and a lazer sphinx. Oh yeah, and the get Freaky afterburn party is going to rock the shit. I will be there and most likely driving my car up to the city this weekend if anyone else wants to come and pitch on gas. Power to the peaceful is on Saturday and reggae fest Paul Sweet is also that night. Hopefully no bro's arrive but if they do they had better get ready for count spankula. Haha, just kidding, but I think Lance bone serving up Coconut at the gate would be ideal. Let me know if you want my Burning Man '08 mix.
