TAG! Your it.

GRL: SC - LASER TAG [March 7th, 2008] from R2 Stew 2 on Vimeo.

* * *

Well, I can honestly say that I enjoyed Friday night much more than any concert or Paul Sweet party I've attended for the same reason I loved Minibike Winter; it was rawkcus free fun. Created by the participants, FOR the particpants (including any passer-byers that wanted to throw down and participate!).
Mad props to the crew for being so on point: Andreas smoothed talked the pepper, Millz busted awesome tags, Will rocked the soundsystem trike and charged the hills with a bunch of cargo, Agler repped his freak bike designs and brought the ruckus, as well as a boatload of bitchin mixes from our favorite psyphy DJs.

We also made such a spectacle that we attracted some allies to come up and check our science:

- The guy who owns the laundromat near UCSC told us that we can project at his business anytime
-Adrian Rasmussen ( contact@adrianrasmussen.com )from the Hyde Gallery came up to us and offered Narwallagram a gig doing projections this month on the 28th. (for pay)
-Gregory MacNicol ( gwiz2k@pacbell.net ) runs a non-profit called Technology As Art and says that he can help us find grant money for our pirate projecting. He also says that he can get us an official document stating that we are supported by the T.A.A. foundation and have a right to be doing what what we do pretty much wherever.
-Peter, a saxaphonist, came and hung out with us and played his sax for close to 3 hours straight. He was busting some sweet riffs along to the stretchy sounds of our glitch hop. sick.
-Countless local writers stepped up to bust their name 20 ft tall on the side of a building. Many smiles were had by all

So now that we are somewhat official in terms of our status as a division of Graffiti Research Lab, we should network with our brethren and make something big happen.

Check out some of the interactive projection games that GRL: Australia is bustin

GRL: Hong Kong is gettin out there and bustin their science like true aZn ganst0rz

Go forth and funk my children!

a night on the town

pretty successful test run, even though we were running off of the cars power inverter and not a mobile bike unit. We need a 1000+ watt pure sine wave inverter in order to run our shit (I think). Later on tonight (Friday) we will attempt to hit various spots around santa cruz:
-liquor store
-parking garage?
-harvey west?
-riverfront bridges
-the boardwalk
-the harborhouse

We expect to hit this shit at about 9:45, so get ready to mash and graff

Thursday!

Yo, sup masstronarwalkians?

The narwallagrams are planning on going out on friday night for a round of laser tag all around our side of town.

On thursday night (7pm) are going to test the projector on the deep cycle battery, test setting up the camera and lining it up with the laser pointer. Hopefully everyone can become trained to be an official GRL:SC GURELLIA OPENSOURCE JUSTICE SEEKING bike punk.

I thought since me, mills and andreas (and most likely agler too) were already getting together thursday night that we might as well try and have Kelly Peach, Chris, Christina, and Will over too so we can meet about/work on the Santa Cruz Minibikewinter/portland trip Zine project.

I've seen this particular group of people do some really incredible things in the past couple of weeks, most of which have been documented or has yet to be captured. RAD! What a good excuse to pool all our resources into and present people with something entertaining, new, and enlightening.

some of R2's Ideas:
* if Andreas, Maitland, Evan and mysef could put our combined coding/flash/actionscript/design knowledge together we could birth a very swift, sick, and intriguingly functional interface with which to present all our content

* the whole crew would submit and remix each others writings, drawings, edits, animations, scripts(?)_, textures, background patterns, ect into a big yummy creamy batter. We could then bake a big gnarly heft cake out of said batter for distribution on the internet and DVD, with the rest of the batter we could whip up little zine versions of our collected work. Printed versions to keep 29 copies of in your backpack everywhere you go so that when someone wants to get to know you you can just bust something out and show em. bam!
