insomniac flm festival

It's important to remember only five people are able to win but as many people as we can get help from are able to participate.

So if you only want to maybe win something (personal apple training, maybe one in 5000 will win macbooks, if it's not fixed)

I know technically maitland can't register to win because he's not a student this semester. I'm registered as captain of the stemcell films group, leaving four spots.

I know there are some official apple rules, but these are my rules too


We have to edit in FCP on a mac.
We have to use the lens adapter,
the Hard Drive,
The Dolly,
The Projector,
Arkaos (which we will record on minidv hopefully one of you can spare a GL1)




The rules say planning and setting up is great, start lighting and blocking locations, start writing scripts...

Select your on screen talent, arrange for extra stage hands, and even start planning shooting locations and a script. Gives you an idea what kinds of things will need to be variable. I've checked the rules and obviously planning ahead within reason is fine, like getting equipment together, maybe even a collection of props and things to chose from is fine...

I've got some idea of where I want to go with this I wonder if its a bad idea to post too much though...


I'll at least propose that I want Mad Zach (or anyone who is quick with a guitar) to be ready to record an impromptu theme song based on the name given by Apple.


Last year the name was Robin Darjeeling and I heard one video that had a very acoustic "shins" kind of song that rhymed...


Maitland Vaughn-Turner, back in the game this year. He'll be recording audio. We need to record the best audio possible and still have it be synced to video to save time, which means an extra person.


Frankly I have a very good idea of a number of things we have and need. I have a mask and an umbrella for the antagonist.

I feel like getting a roll of film shot and developed but not cut so we can pull through a roll of film with the faces of the actors and props we use.



Actors include the women, the young boy, and grandfather. plus two males.


We need a nice dining room with a sort of warm wooden feeling for the dinner with grandfather scene.

This Is the story of madaline, and andrei nikolac, and of my brother who I am waiting for,

It all started when andrei nikolai and my brother ventured into the closet to find madaline who had been swallowed by her own magic after naively lighting a whole stick of roseblood insense that she had stolen from her freemasonic grandfathers doubleheaded eagle chest.

Though I should probably retract further you see before andrei, madaline kept to herself. She was a self proscribed trotskyite much to the dismay of her grandfather, She wrote poetry about snow and concrete, her bedfellows were ghosts and demons.

Madaline is walking by a graveyard, smoking a cigarette. Andrei drives by.
