balarrf

So I'm sitting here sick on my ass for days frustrated with life and my lack of accomplishments when lo and behold outcomes from apple new macbooks and pros, basically the same shit though to be honest, still it's time so I'll get one. but ground rules I've set.

one, as much as possible, live the air lifestyle, that is to say, I will not download anything I can stream or host online. obviously I'll have a temporary download folder and a 300gb internal, but that gets used up faster than most realize. of course I'll have a few dozen terabytes of externals, but you can't lug those around everywhere, either... this way I'll have what I need for: (A) a streamline workstation, (B) an arkaos video mixing machine (C) an HD film editing suite with reserved power and additional storage modules (i.e. firewire800 terabyte bricks)

so on the bricks, HD video content, maybe some songs and movies I'm really worried I won't be able to find or download after the apocalypse, possibly a few tidily indexed folders of texts I've written. but the internal? what will go on the internal 300 gb drive?

besides all the applications of course. OS X.5 with all the works; FCP suite2, the CS3 suite, arkaos, all the 3rd party programs I can't survive without, that should take up 20 to well nigh 60gb, possibly even 100gb, not counting the media content.

So how do you make room? is this where the "Air" lifestyle comes in?

obviously no text documents, I will strictly use google documents only.

NO MP3S. If I have to download them (for video edits, etc) I'll download them to my external drive. I will listen to music I can stream, hopefully compiling a blogpot linkbrary, a library or index of songs links like a playlist. ask for pirated music? well for daft punk they have a myspace, and if they didn't sure I could make an exception if I couldn't host it online which I can. However, I would prefer free music as opposed to stolen music like britney spears and antinapster bands like metallica anyway...

third, no porn or videos I can stream from youtube, vimeo, etc... obviously VEOH requires you to download the video, so I can download films from time to time like a free rental, but unless I back them up to external, or dvd, or upload them to my server for safekeeping, they will be deleted after I view them...

it's important to create indexes and references of the files because just like they get lost on the desktop, believe me they get moved if you just leave them out on the streets of internet...

and remember, this isn't korea kids, we live in the united states of babylon, pretty much the last 3rd world nation without nationwide wifi, sure it sucks, and sure they're plenty of places without wifi... so remember that 300gb harddrive can come in useful sometimes. just don't make a habit out of downloading everything to the drive... I really like the idea of temporary folders, shit to be stored temporarily until you can get them on your server or at least on a plugin drive...

so the other thing was I was talking to maitland thru googlechat's aol instant messenger feature, so fuck text chatting programs too, ichat is for AVchat only, tools.

but I digress. I broke my baby camera's screen, so waiting on the freemasony's fixin it. but I was bored so I plugged my big camera into imovie08, and it works, so you weren't sold before...

anyway when I feel better maitland and I are going to film with the big camera at the laundromat.

I wrote a scene in google documents called " 'laundroma "

I've got it all worked out, I won't need any help with it, I'll just go with maitland and film him doing laundry, and then going into the machine out into another world. I'll probably need help with greenscreening the another world bit at some other point, but regaurdless, it'd be a cool movie just if he climbs in, and cut to him climbing out changed and affected, soaking wet...

well kevin's shit looks hyphy doesn't it?

I think he might be able to help, that is if I can get my after effects shit together. which brings us all to kelly peach.
