I believe its best that this be a school project specifically so we don't lose the rights to our best ideas or make devil's dance-hall get swallowed somehow by cabrillo and their agenda.. and also can use the resources we accumulate to run our own projects better. Ideally, we will be able to use this project to also separately fuel our own projects, including the equipment and labour force, actors and notoriety we gain...

I say we should make a Cabrillo super8 Cinematek club FILM short around 21 minutes long with colour and black and white scenes and with the steadicam arm and new film lights cabrillo has;

and meanwhile build the resources and work on the puppets and claymation scenes for zach's devil's dance hall, we can even film it at the paul sweet and cabrillo, but lets have something else to turn in as cabrillo cinematek propaganda. Something about community college, video, and insanity (maybe he talks to Nancy Reagen)


Don't get me wrong we should make devils dance hall, I'm not even saying wait on it; I'm saying lets make it independently, or at least parasitically off the state propaganda...

Sooo…things are happening at a reasonable rate. I’m in Cali now! Seems I’ve caused a bit of a stir amongst some fair Santa Cruzians. Seems I’ve caused some excitement farther down the rabbit hole as well, as folk far and wide have begun to bug me about when I would have the reel ready. The Yard Dogs Road Show recently contacted me as well - stating that they were holding auditions and haven’t ever done so in 9 years! Better get on it!

What I’d like to know from you all - who may know the yard dogs…what were your gut feelings watching their stage performance for the first time? what did you feel they were missing if anything? Do you have any ideas that might be helpful in the way of attacking this footage knowing their current aesthetic and standards?

We all know I can bust a move - but I’d like to be smart in my approach. I think I have a good chance, been emailing them for a bit now…Kind of cool that this would be the first ever “audition” for their group in their 9 years of existence!

The Great Weight: BodiGram

Hello hello all. I know it's a bit last minute and all, but I wanted to invite everyone to come see me perform with BodiGram (a dance company) at CounterPulse this Sunday Dec. 14th from 2pm-4pm. We will be one of four groups featured in a monthly showcase of works-in-progress called "2nd Sundays". It should be quite interesting.

Here's a bit about BodiGram, in case you might be curious...BodiGram Dance Company is an emerging dance company formed by choreographers Blair Bodie and Julia Graham. Brought together by their interests in Asian philosophy and movement traditions as well as improvisation and somatic awareness, they blend Western and Eastern thought and form.

You can check out the details of our performance on the CounterPulse website, as well as check out other really sweet events like Frolic: CircusDragBurlesque that happens this weekend as well.

In other news though my house, the Capp St. Co-op, is great, positive, creative and a little bit wild, I was kind of hating San Francisco until yesterday night, when I finally met people I connect with; clowns (literally) of all sorts who also happen to Burners <3 They are all about dark and light circus, cabaret, dance and aerial arts, etc. and introduced me to some events along those lines. So, though I miss Santa Cruz and its forests with a fiery passion, SF is no longer filed under "stupid" to my mind. I miss y'all too and you should come stay with me when you come to San Francisco, or even just come to romp in the city with me.

so I've been asking for donations from companies to cinematek24, our new cabrillo video coop. I was just informed that we will be receiving a stabilization system, however we need to fully administer the coop to complete official charter requirements.

So i will be riding trains north from the sd to stockton and then going legit from there to the SC i expect to be home by thursday, but wednesday would be a blessing. will be ridin with supercyd. if any artists come by the house looking to hang work earlier in the week let em at it! i will be working on the room thursday night and friday day a bit but am also looking to borrow someones car to get kelly home from a doctors appt. where she will have minor surgery. so i know we wee talking about the shuttle. lets run the bus around the block once or twice to make sure the clock works. i got some cash on diesel. i will work a shitty shift of some sort the night of aswell, probibly parking. lets get a little more convo going on here about the details. i would apoligize for coming in at the last minute, but you guys know i gotta do what i can to do what i like when i can. and so on. hey, i know it's a little late, but i just wanted to thank all you guys that came out and did your thing at the cave party. you don't know how many people came up to me telling me how epic the party was. i had an awesome time and i know that everyone there did too! i really wish that we could have gone late into the night/early into the morning like all of us would have loved, but given the circumstances, my neighbors were kinda flipping out and if i didn't shut things down, they would have. i'm sorry things had to end so abruptly.

but seriously, thank you guys so much for coming out to rock that shit as hard as you did. big thanks to mad zach (esp for the sound system!), coda, the harshmellows, sonik gemini, mikey for setting up the graff scene outside the cave and i really wish that ryan and brian groza could have rocked the shit out of the cave too... next time!

by far the dopest party i've been to and we couldn't have pulled it off without you guys.  much love to all of you. i can't wait to throw another fat party like that, and there's no doubt in my mind that you guys will be involved.  we're trying to come up with a super discreet location to throw another big get down, so i'll keep in touch.

just wanted to get it out there that we're going to be working in the cave on thurs night (the 13th) to get things ready for the get-down on friday. there's a lot to be done, so the more help we have the better. 

we still need: 

-more xmas lights

-power strips for all the electronical goodies

-extension cords

-VGA adaptor so R2 can use bryan's mac laptop for projections

-microphone for lyrical i and freestyle sessions

-snackery for folks with the munchies

-keg cups. if you got some laying around, we could use 'em.

-the bone barrel

-flood lights. there will be live graff artists painting outside so we need to light up the walls

-plywood or old doors and 2x4's , etc for building graff walls

-any sort of brightly colored art to be hung on the walls and/or ceiling

Hey happy people. So the countdown begins. I'm currently waiting on a paycheck that I should receive on Thurs...and then I'm off - back to never land. Looking to come in on Sat or Sun time. Can't wait to touch down and get going and jump into this new chapter in the mojo chronicles. 

Was wondering if I could possibly stay at homebase for a bit before I head to Carmel Valley and then to Nevada City. Will be movin' and shakin before I build homebase closer to SF. Definitely would love to get down on some community lovin' and help keep the crib-o in order-so sign me up for some chores kids!

What's new...I've been really working on learning the ins and outs of backyard herbalism and would like to continue my studies - so if anyone knows anyone or anything...hit me up! I'll be playing with tinctures and decoctions from here on out and would love your input pertaining to what has worked for you in the past (be it entheogenic or otherwise) what currently ails you and maybe...how we can come up with some holistic solutions for basic body love to keep stocked up for the free table, etc. 

That - is what I'm REALLY interested in bringing to and for you folk. Bodies need to be healthy and feelin' yum yo! But other projects I'd like to begin working on with all my awesome comrades include:

• an interactive dance environment similar to this. I've been learning about writing code and playing with Python recently so I'm stoked on the idea of chewin on some scripts that will make the stuff that blur dream and reality at our events.

• creating a reel for myself that's super bugged out showcasing my classical AND hip-hop AND urban arts skills -ALL ideas welcome and anyone who participates can use the footage for your own stuff as well
  
• psyphy porn - thinking more along the lines of photos but would def consider something so glitched out you couldn't make out too much detail for video...lol...lets get dark with it FRRREQMASONIC PROPOGANDA ANYONE?!(what can i say-you can take the dominatrix out of the dungeon but you can't take the ... well, you know...) but seriously...it should be absolutely fucking redonk.  ;)
• I really want to do some serious vocal recording for anyone who is down. Yea, this girl's got flows but am really interested in helping you guys get some complex vocal action in there, haunting melodies and weird noises and...whatever else we can come up with.
• I don't know how you guys feel about building a dome in the grove...but it might be sweet to have a hookah lounge for parties - seeing as how dear milkman donated his hookah to the house.

right now the drop has a fat bassline but the structure of the song is kind of lacking, oh well, at least it bumps, feels very psyphvillian (Jade?). Consider this beta 1, don't let it get too far, more to come. All I can say is "Get ready for the CAVE PARTY!!!"


Count Spankula is pretty much done, as well as some others. I've begun work on my FINAL PROJECT for school forever, which I made up and is going to be a short musical production with accompanying video projection and live ensemble. There will be 8 performers (not including dancers), 4 in a choir/snap chorus, 4 on the different components of sound. I will prepare the script in the next few days. I think I'm going to take a fairy tale (Hansel and Grettle maybe?) and give it acid and a good spanking. Add 4 teaspoons of sub 50hz bass frequencies, wiggle the video connection, and carve some skips into the record. Then make everyone where glow paint and conduct the whole thing like Stroganofski. We're going to need to shoot the thing in advance and project it behind the performers. I also want to have a highly choreographed dance thing at some point but that will be Jade's job so I'll wait until round two when she's in town.

The uber website project is underway, I'm going to need help with the design, I'll post more about that later.

sane zach asked a great question, we'll we be able to finish this scene in time. my initial response is "it is not too much work."

Reasons for my position:
it is storyboarded to under 3 minutes so it can be edited upto 3 minutes rather than downto. This means no extra footage. animation and drawings will make up for less than 33% of this project. this includes credits illustrated or colláged by mikey millz filmed with glitter blown across them.


I think it is important to understand the narration is completely read and recorded without need memorization and read rapidly but clearly. I am continually abridging the narration for timing leaving room for the "complicated" scenes.


scenes take a certain amount of time to film, period. In order that we don't have to spend all the time in the same place, I think it would be beneficial to all meet up so we can run through the locations. I would like all the lighting and blocking set up really in the next few days. I would like to have finished blocking by the 5th or 7th, The less I meet my goal, the less time we'll have when shooting comes.


from shortest length to longest length, here are the main 6 location:

the first doesn't even have any dialogue, it is just an establishing pan of madaline reading trotsky under the bed. the second is just a wideshot of the diningroom table. It has two lines but only one angle with one tilt for when Andrei stands up at the table. the third has one line and three angles. The wideshot of the graveyard from across the street showing the car driving into frame and stopping to look at her, her closeup and a reaction shot through his open passenger window at his face staring at her. the fourth is just for inlcuding the freemasons in the film, and has two scenes, but its the three angles, just two sets of dialogue and a total four lines. mainly the establishing shot and two over the shoulder mediums. the fifth is the most intense, thats the grandfathers closet room, thats with the special scary character, the kidnap and climactic finale.

Ok, for those of you who haven't already had your lives changed for the better by Frontier Psychiatrist, go watch the original. Ok, now that we're all up to speed, check out this Lego stop motion video tribute. It's got that folksy, authentic youtube style (which I once mistook for just looking amateur) where I know it's not a viral video that's gonna try to sell me something on the sly. And I think the watercolor/pixellation effects look great on the legos with their simplified color scheme. That's what makes old cartoons so good to VJ with - I'll bet footage from this would mash nicely. (I can't wait to get my laptop fixed).

Also, I like what they're doing with text - starting it at an almost legible pace then ramping it up until it's way too much for your brain to process all at once. So you just pick up random evocative phrases straight to the sub-dome.

hey everybody,

so we're thinking we're gonna throw another cave party on the 14th of november after i heard from mikey millz that most of you guys are going to the freaker's ball on halloween. so i'm wondering if any of you'd be available to come rock our cave that night, including mad zach, coda, agler, r2 and smurf to provide the visuals and anyone else that could contribute to the night.

so yeah. the last cave party was awesome, but i think we need to rock this one even harder. if you haven't heard, bryan and i are moving out of santa cruz, so this will be the last party we're gonna throw in the cave, and if you haven't been before, i highly recommend it. we're gonna get more lights up in there and we're open for ideas as to how we could make the cave even doper.

umm, we still can't blow the place up too fat, so let your close homies know and other people that should be there, but we'd like to avoid inviting the cops to the property.

Ive missed a call the last few days from a santa cruz number i couldnt recognize. Didnt think much of it till I picked up today - it was a collect call from the santa cruz county jail, but it didnt say who from. Anybody know who this might be? I already tried calling the jail and they were no help. Their website has an inmate locator but you have to know the last name. I already tried Lotz, Agler, Millard, Alderman, Bradley-Jungemann and Rusk (Jack, who made the news for getting arrested at farmers market last week for hopping a fence or some shit, resisten,and then the hippy drum circle turned into a hippy riot on Cedar street). So I dunno who this could be, and Im afraid a friend of mine has been rotting in jail for 3 days. If anyone has any info, it would be much appreciated.

Next stop on the mixtrain, iMeem. I feel like I'm a little late to the party on this one, as I've been hearing it's name floating around for a while as an alternative to seeqpod, beemp3 or pandora for when you've JUST GOTTA HEAR THAT ONE SONG RIGTHTHEFUCKNOW. But I ended up there last night, listening to a glitch mix by drumjunkie feat. our favorite mob. Naturally it led me to lots of other good related stuff, but most importantly the site basically just played me the shit I wanted to hear. Didn't try to sucker me into signing up, or put bullshit restrictions on stuff until I did. There's probably a gang of other mixes up there too, haven't explored that much yet. 

Memekast tragically hasn't put out anything fresh since June 5th, and now I've listened to just about their entire catalog...alas, it was good while it lasted. Maybe a certain Mad Zamplist in our midst could kick start their reemergence by sending them a certain domesplitting BM08 mix...hint hint. Incidentally,

Paul Sweet Art Show 10-10-08

Mikey and I started talking more in depth about the upcoming Paul Sweet Art Show today. We discussed aiming for the second weekend of October. Some ideas we had were: Love Gutter live performance proceeded by a percussion circle with pots and pans :). Lyrical I supplying the special treats and spoken word.
